Rules 2008 season

 

 

The rules listed below are for the 2008 season.  This is to be used as a guideline for building a car.  There are some areas that are still being addressed at this time.  Any questions regarding the rules should be addressed with a Track Official.

 

  1. No driver, car owner, or mechanic shall have any claim for damages, expenses, or otherwise against the track or any of its officials.
  2. Drivers, car owners, and mechanics must be at least 16 years old.
  3. Drivers and owners assume responsibility for their pit crews in every respect.  If a crew member starts trouble, the driver, the car owner, car, and crew can be disqualified, suspended, or fined.  Anyone in a pit area other than their own will be considered at fault if a disturbance occurs.  Any abusive or profane language or obscene gestures from anyone will result in a $100.00 and or suspension.
  4. The track may refuse to accept entry of any car, car owner, driver, or crew member.
  5. Anyone receiving injuries at the track must report it to a track official before leaving the speedway.
  6. The decision of the track officials on interpretation of the rules, scoring, flagging, and race procedures will be final.
  7. After the race begins the flagman is in full race control and their decision will be upheld.
  8. No one is allowed to ride in any car with a driver at any time.
  9. Driver, car owner, and crews must be familiar with the official flag rules.
  10. In the event that two cars cross the finish line at the same time the car closer to the infield can be determined the winner.
  11. No one can receive assistance from another car during the last lap of the race.
  12. No working on cars on the track at any time.  Cars will be penalized one lap for infractions of this rule.
  13. All races will be staged in designated areas.  Any car not in position will tag to the end of the field for that race.
  14. In the event that a race is stopped after the first lap, the car or cars for which the race was stopped will be put in the rear.  Line up will be made from the previous lap.  Anyone pulling out and intentionally causing a caution will be put in the rear of the field.
  15. Drivers cannot move up or down to another division without permission from track officials.
  16. Cars cannot race in two divisions in one night. (Regular events)
  17. Any driver or crew member drinking alcoholic beverages or using drugs during the race program will be subject to fine or suspension.
  18. Any person found with a weapon on him is subject to fine or suspension.
  19. A protest can only be made by a driver within 5 minutes of reaching the scales.
  20.  There will be no arguing, with track officials, the night of the race.  Any problems will be assessed on Monday.
  21. Rough driving will be dealt with through fines or disqualification of a car or driver.
  22. A car bringing out the caution three times unassisted will be put in the pits.
  23. All rules must be obeyed the first time that you run – there is no grace period.
  24. No crew member will work on the car while on the track. EXCEPT under red flag conditions. (One crew member only)
  25. Under cautions track officials may inspect sheet metal for tire rub or clean grill area.
  26. No direct drives, any division.
  27. Any driver getting out of the car on the track will go to the pits and be disqualified for that race.
  28. No alcohol or nitrous oxide systems all classes.
  29. No electric or computerized “wheel spin” traction control devices permitted.  Any driver using electronic or computerized “wheel spin” traction control devices WILL BE DISQUALFIED FROM COMPETITION AND OR FINED $500.00.
  30. Any driver competing in that feature can purchase late model ignition boxes thought to be illegal after an event for $500.00.
  31. All vehicles entering track property are subject to inspection by track officials for stow-a-ways.  Any teams or vehicles caught will be barred for the night.
  32. If you protest a car and it’s legal or illegal you keep or gain a position.
  33. Drivers with flat tires get 2 caution laps.

 

Safety Rules

 

  1. Full-face helmets and complete fire suits are mandatory.
  2. Roll cages are mandatory and must have a minimum of 3 bars in the driver’s door.
  3. A full window net is mandatory.
  4. A full cell in all division is mandatory.
  5. A 5-point racing harness is mandatory.
  6. A windshield bar is mandatory (min 3).
  7. A fire extinguisher, with a gauge, must be mounted in a quick release harness in reach of the driver.
  8. Scattershield is recommended (minimum ¼’’ steel plate sides).
  9. The battery must be mounted outside the driver’s compartment or in an enclosed, bolted down, metal box.
  10. All fuel lines must be under the car or incased in tubing.
  11. The ballast needs to be painted white and have the car # engraved and be securely mounted. 

 

* Any item not specified above must be approved beforehand or it is deemed illegal.

 

Protest Rules


1. Protest fees are $350.00. Track keeps $175.00.
2. Protest on crank is $1000.00 . Track keeps $500.00.
3. Protest can only be made by the driver (within 5 Minutes of reaching the scales.)
4. All visual protest must be made before the race begins (except by track officials
when they deem necessary.)
5. A driver in which their winning will be affected must make protest.(Driver that finishes
directly behind the protest car.)
6. Any other rules infraction will be dealt with by track officials.
7. One hour to tear the engine down. Once tear down is complete only one man from the protest
car and one man submitting the protest will be allowed in the tech area with the tech man.

The track has the right to check any car at any time during the racing program.

Stock Four – 2008 Rules

 

  1. upgrade rods, pistons,cam (476 lift max) timing gears and headers okay.

  2. (No dry sumps) cam to be measured off of base circle.

  3. No rotary or Turbo engines.

  4. Engine must be the same make as the car.

  5. One two barrel carburetor, 350 CFM Holley or 500 Holley CFM. No modifications other than choke removed.

  6. Ignition stock style electronic or points. No MSD systems.

  7. Firewall must remain in stock location. (Valve cover must remain in front of the firewall.)

  8. No aluminum heads except for Toyotas.

  9. One pound per CC of engine 2300 pound mininum.

  10. Stock chassis, or reinforced, tubed along factory dimensions okay. No tube cars.

  11. Wheel base 104" maximum.

  12. Coilovers, 1 shock per wheel. (optional)

  13. Coil springs or leafs are okay.

  14. Fuel cell mandatory.

  15. 8" steel wheel maximum.

    Goodyear G40 or G45 22 or 23 Hoosier any rc

 

Limited Sportsman 

Body & Chassis
1.  Unibody CR 602 Engine cars                start weight             2900 lbs.

      Unibody cars can be subject to 4412 holley 2 barrel .
      Tube cars and full frame cars must run holley 4412 2 barrel carb.  List # must be on carb.
      Unibody cars with no suspension parts added to tube can run 1850 holley 4 barrel with jet plate and rear
      bowl installed.  50 cc pump OK. No other modifications.
      CR 602 engines can run any up to 650 holley 4 barrel.

Tires

     Any spec tire.

Engines
1.  362 cu. maximum.
2.  Standaard production engine only.
3.  Edelbrock performer  #2101 or Edelbrok #7101 RPM intakes only.  No air gaps.
4.  Edelbrock performer #2101 can run 1" spacer (1.000) measure with dial indicator.  Not tape measure.
     One gasket per side of spacer.  Not to be more than .080 thick.
5.  No porting or polishing of intakes.
6.  041 or 186 or 281-461-462-492 GM heads OK.No porting or polishing.  Vortec 062 or 906 OK.
     Dart 007 and world product 052 OK.  2.02 intake and 1.65 exh. valves max.
7.  Crankshafts min of 48 lbs.  3.48 stroke only.
8.  No aluminum heads or blocks.
9.  No dome pistons.  Flat tops only.  No piston popout.  0 deck height.
10. No roller cams . No shaft rocker arms.
11. No magnetos or crank triggers of any style.
12. Stock HEI systems only.  Aftermarket replacement parts OK. (coil,module,pickup coil) MSD box OK.
13. No fuel injection system.
14. Wet sump systems only.

DOMESTIC U-CAR RULES FOR 2008

 

New 311 Speedway has established an affordable entry-level class of racing to experience the trill of circle track racing.  The purpose of this class is to allow people to learn track procedures, racing manners, gain experience and have fun.  This class will keep racing cost at the minimum and competition at the highest, thus making it exciting for both the fans and the drivers.  Fire Suit is required and must be worn at all times while on the track.  U-Car drivers and cars must be at the track by 4:00pm and the driver must be in the pits for the drivers meeting.  Driver’s name must be on the door above the driver’s door.  The first three finishers in the previous race will start in the last three starting positions for the next race.  Any driver that is disqualified from a race will be suspended for the next two events.  Another driver can drive the car after the infraction is corrected.

 

CAR MODELS:

 

1980 or later front wheel drive only, maximum wheelbase of 105.  Complete stock, for that make and model (body, frame, suspension, dash, steering, pedals, brakes, etc.)  No bracing or body modifications, stock ride height for the car being run.  All insulation under must be removed.  Stock carburetor/fuel injection systems for that make and model.  No turbo or super-charged systems allowed. A factory stock air cleaner system with no modifications or removal of sensors - 4 cylinders only.  No quad 4’s, No dual overhead cam engines allowed.  PS belts and pumps may not be removed.  Battery must be in stock location.  Passenger tires only, all four wheels and tires must be the same and be stock for that make and model of car.  Right front must have oversized lugs for safety.  Low profile tires or performance tires are not permitted.  Stock suspensions must remain in stock position.  No altering of camber or caster adjustments.  Stock transmission and differential (no lock differential).  Broken windshields may be replaced with 3/16” lexan.  No plexiglass.  Removal of A/C condenser and pump is allowed. Removal of rear seat allowed, but must cover rear firewall with aluminum or steel sheet metal.  Electric engine cooling fans may be wired to run constantly.  No added weight of any kind is allowed.

 

MANDATORY MODIFICATION:

 

Fire extinguisher is required in the racecar fastened by a medal bracket.  A 4-point roll cage with mandatory 2 side horizontal door bars on the driver’s side approximately 12” apart with one vertical supporting the middle and recommended diagonal bar on the right side.  All roll bars must be 1- ¾” x .090” wall seamless steel tubing.  Roll bars must be welded to a minimum 3” x 3” x ¼” thick plate and bolted to the floor pan with a minimum of four ½ “bolts and through another 3” x 3” x ¼ “thick plate on the bottom of the floor pan.  Must have 2 support bars from the top of the cage angled down to the frame in the front area.  Five point racing seatbelts required and must be mounted in a manner acceptable to a track official.  Approved helmets with at least a valid SA 1995 or SA 2000 Standard Snail and gloves required.  Racing seats and driver suits are recommended.  Window net must be mounted in the driver’s side window, opening secure with ½ “solid rod or 3/16 x 1” flat bar with the rear of the top rod in a slot and the front of the top rod secured with a lever or seat belt fastener.    Bottom and top must be securely mounted with no hose clamp mounts.
